Welcome to the Sojourner Saga Wiki!

The Sojourner Novels take place in a distant future when Humanity has long since colonized the stars. The future history of these novels includes an extensive universe of world building details. This wiki is intended to provide an organized and growing corpus of these details for fans of the series. Rather than trying to create a short appendix for background details in the first book (as Frank Herbert did with Dune) or create a backlog of notes for decades (as Tolkien did with what eventually became the Silmarillion), this wiki is intended to be a 21st Century approach to dynamic world-building. The wiki entries on this site will continue to grow with the series over time, further building out the Sojourner universe conceptually. I sincerely hope that you will come to enjoy the rich background and textures of this universe as much as I have while writing the books in the series. The first two novels in the series are now available for orders (see below), and the third novel in the series is in the works!

The Sojourner Saga Future

In a distant future when humanity has long since colonized the stars, many human civilizations have collapsed, becoming dying societies called the Bereft. Dedicated to finding and aiding Bereft civilizations, Sojourners are an altruistic scientific monastic Order of monks. After a millennium of saving Bereft societies, the Order has fallen on hard times. The novels of the Sojourner Saga follow the travels of a young Sojourner acolyte named Greymalkin Thomas who volunteers to go on a quest to explore the secrets of the distant and enigmatic cluster of stars in the vicinity of Eta Carina, where he makes new enemies and allies among the aliens and cyborgs that inhabit the cluster. The Carinae is a violent alien realm that was once home to the Builders, an ancient and extinct civilization of near godlike entities.
The Sojourner Saga is a reimagining of the Chinese classic Journey to the West. These novels are also inspired by grand science fiction and fantasy classics of world building. With compelling characters and stories that venture far beyond our contemporary discoveries in deep space phenomena, quantum physics, and artificial intelligence, the Sojourner Saga novels are fast-paced adventures of ideas, set in an expansive interstellar future of human, alien, and cybernetic societies.
